Frequently Asked Questions

Does Bustracker provide information for all Edinburgh bus services?

No, Bustracker has information for all Lothian Buses services and all the stops they use in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian, not just those with Bustracker signs on-street.

How far in advance can I get a "real-time" prediction?

1 hour ahead (59 minutes to be precise!) Arrivals after 1 hour are always estimated times based on the timetable.

Why can't I get information for other bus companies?

At present Lothian Buses is the only operator to install the Bustracker equipment on their buses. The system is open to other operators; to join up they would have to install the Bustracker equipment on their buses.

What is the bus stop code?

The bus stop code is the unique 8 digit number given to every bus stop. The code can be found on the website via the map search within the bus stop marker balloon or on the timetable at stops on street.

How do I plan a journey / find out which bus I need to take?

If you want to plan a journey using public transport Traveline Scotland can help.

Why are there no mobile applications for Blackberry?

The iPhone, Android and Windows applications have been developed by third parties at no cost to the Council. An API (Application Programming Interface) has been developed which will enable easier development of third party applications in these formats.
